A road kill, a shotgun, and one cool honeymoon to Alaska!

When I was in wildlife management, I had a crazy roommate who was engaged to an even crazier guy.  One weekend she came back and announced with great pride, that her boyfriend had been driving down the road, saw a road-kill ground hog that was still fresh enough to mount, and brought it home to her.

I decided then and there that her love of taxidermy (not too mention her boyfriend) was a little bit creepy.

It was an interesting way of saying, “I love you,” but it worked!  A couple years later they were married.  For their first Christmas together – he bought her a new shotgun.

Over 30 years later, they’re still hunting together.  Some things just work.

Anyway, I’m willing to bet that 30 years from now – this couple will still be fishing together.

Fishing in Alaska with the bears!

My brother, his son, and grandson just got back earlier this month from a 3 week stay in Wrangell, Alaska.  His grandson will be heading into 4th grade this year and is addicted to fishing, so Alaska was just the highlight of his little life.

Anyway, here’s a really cool video I thought y’all might enjoy where some lucky guys got to do exactly that.
